When I first came to this school, I was surprised at how many students put on the dead stare and walked down the entire length of the building without making eye contact or even turning their heads to acknowledge a window or another person. I set a goal that I would increase the number of students who engaged with their surroundings, and I am pleased to report that I am seeing a difference. Unfortunately I cannot report that 100% of our student population has abandoned the old practice, but…
